SWITCHBACK PINES
This Big Bear cabin isn't about massive retreats—it’s designed as the perfect home base for a small group of friends to step right out the door and hit the mountain biking trails. The branding needed to feel just as intimate, outdoorsy, and community-focused as the space itself.
This mark is meticulously constructed from multiple interlocking bicycle chain links, layered in two distinct rows. The base row features a series of undulating, connected chain links, and above it, a single, central link forms the apex. Together, this arrangement forms the recognizable, stylized silhouette of a multi-tiered evergreen pine tree. The central pins of the lower links act as stylized tree trunks, grounding the design. This precise, geometric construction not only represents a pine grove but also explicitly signals the mechanical nature of the brand’s focus.
Capturing nature in a mechanical sense. The large pine tree flanked by two smaller trees, embodies the essence of what it means to go out and ride, to really enjoy the great outdoors.
Utilizing the shape of the chain in different aspects. The zig and zag perform a feeling of the trails, either winding up or down, or left or right.
Of course there are mountains when mountain biking. The layering of the chains resembles the characteristics of the climbs, decents, and peaks that come with every adventure.
